Who gets this? Shops on all Postscript plans have access to this feature & integration. Learn more about Postscript Plans.
Postscript is deeply integrated with Klaviyo, allowing you to send subscriber data, click events, and more between our two solutions.
In this article, we'll guide you through how to pass a Postscript subscriber tag from a Klaviyo form so that you can segment a Welcome Series based on which popup variant the subscriber opted-in to.
Before following this guide, please be sure to set up your Klaviyo integration.
A/B Test Klaviyo Forms
- From your Klaviyo dashboard, select Sign-up forms on the left-side navigation panel.
- Select an existing form to edit or create a new form by selecting Create Sign-up Form in the upper-right corner.
- Within the form editor, select Create A/B Test above the left-side toolbar and add your form variations.
- Select SMS Opt-in next to Email Opt-In and click on the SMS Opt-in submission button.
- Under the Submit Hidden Fields section, update the 'Source' Profile Property with a unique name for each popup (e.g., form variation A = '15OFF' and form variation B = '30CashBack').
- Be sure to repeat steps 4 through 6 for each of your popup variations.
Note: What you dictate as the value for each profile property will be the susbcriber tag you use in Postscript to target susbcribers with the appropriate Welcome Series.
Build Klaviyo Form-Specific Welcome Series
- Select Messaging in the side menu of your Postscript dashboard, then select Automations.
- Choose an existing automation flow or create a new flow by selecting Create Automation in the top-right corner of the page, then choose Create Automation Flow.
- Select Use a template or select Create a new automation. Then select Continue (or Create flow) in the bottom right corner.
- Name the automation. Choose a name that will allow you to easily identify this Welcome Series as it relates to it's correlating Klaviyo form variation (e.g., Klaviyo Form Variation A, 15OFF Welcome Series).
- Select the trigger Subscriber Created. A trigger is an action that will begin the automation flow. For your Welcome Series, we want an individual to enter the flow when they are created as a Subscriber in your list.
- Add the Subscriber filter. User filters can help you narrow down which subscribers can receive your Welcome Series. For this use case, select the dropdown and choose Subscriber tags.
- Set the following parameters as Includes and, in the freeform field, add the value you indicated in Klaviyo from the 'Source' Profile Property field (e.g., 15OFF or 30CashBack).
- Save. Select Save in the bottom right corner of the Automation properties editor.
- Next, drag and drop the Send Message action into your flow and craft your message according to the form variation incentive (e.g., offering 15% off or offering 30% CashBack).
- Repeat steps 2-9 with each Klaviyo form you're testing, adjusting the subscriber tag and copy according to the variant.
-
When you're ready for subscribers to begin receiving your flows, select Schedule or Activate in the top-right corner of the page. You have two options when sending a flow:
- Activate immediately: This option will immediately begin the flow allowing subscribers to enter the automation based on the selected properties.
- Activate at a scheduled time and date: Choose when you'd like the flow to begin allowing subscribers to enter.
What's Next?
- Subscribers who opt in through either A/B test variant will be tagged according to the Profile Property you configured in Klaviyo.
- You can also target these subscribers by segmenting them in Postscript. Use the segment criterion Subscriber Tag includes {profile property value} in order to segment subscribers by which form they opted into.
