Understanding AI Infinity Testing in Automation Flows

Who gets this? This feature is currently in Beta. For eligibility to join the beta, please contact your Customer Success Manager.

Infinity Testing combines predictive analytics and generative AI technology to generate and test thousands of on-brand message variants that evolve over time. Watch the short video below for a look at how Infinity Testing works.

In this article, we'll discuss how to set up Infinity Testing in Automation Flows.

Before Getting Started

Please ensure your Brand Center is thoroughly filled out. This step is crucial, and the starting point to training Postscript AI on your unique brand, so you can have confidence that AI across Postscript is adopting your brand voice.

Set Up Infinity Testing

  1. From your Postscript Dashboard, select Messaging. Then select Automations.
  2. Locate either your existing Browse Abandonment or Checkout Started automations. Alternatively, you can create a new automation by selecting Create Automation in the upper-right corner. Then choosing Create Automation Flow.
  3. Set your automation trigger. Ensure your automation trigger is either Checkout Started or Subscriber Viewed Product.
  4. Set your entry filter frequency. For optimal test results, we highly encourage you to set an entry filter of 30-60 days.
  5. Set your cancellation trigger. If your automation trigger is Subscriber Viewed Product, set your cancellation trigger to Checkout Started. If your automation trigger is Checkout Started, set your cancellation trigger to Order Created.
  6. Save your automation properties.
  7. Next, drag and drop the AI Infinity Testing action into your flow.
  8. For the control group, write your own message. This message will be used as both the message that we measure performance against and also as inspiration for the AI.
  9. Save your changes by selecting Save Changes in the upper-right corner to preview AI-generated messages.
  10. Before activating your flow, consider reviewing some AI-generated messages and providing feedback on at least 5 messages. Below, we include more information on how to give Postscript AI feedback.
  11. When you're ready to send your flow, select Schedule or Activate in the top-right corner of the page. You have two options when sending a flow:
    • Activate immediately: This option will immediately begin the flow allowing subscribers to enter the automation based on the selected properties.
    • Activate at a scheduled time and date: Choose when you'd like the flow to begin allowing subscribers to enter.

Giving Postscript AI Feedback

To see some AI-generated message variants and provide feedback, select the View AI-generated Messages hyperlink.

  • By giving a thumbs up, or approving messages, you are informing the AI of your brand voice.
  • By giving a thumbs down, you will remove that message from the AI message pool.

To get the most out of Postscript AI, give feedback on at least 5 messages. If the AI-generated messages are not on-brand, head to the Brand Center to update your settings.

What's Next?

Once your flow is activated, Postscript AI explores and tests message variants (for a closer look at the exploration stage, check out the video above) to begin optimizing messages to drive higher conversions.

Unlike traditional A/B testing, AI infinity Testing's goal is not to come up with one perfect message that you should use indefinitely.

AI Infinity Testing is continuously exploring thousands of message variants, testing to understand what works, and optimizing messages. As long as you keep AI Infinity Testing running, it will continue evolving and adapting according to message performance.

Reviewing Your Results

To view AI-related metrics, select Analytics on the left-side navigation panel of the Postscript Dashboard. Next select the AI tab. You have two dashboards available to you, an AI Overview dashboard and an AI Automations dashboard. Within the AI Overview dashboard, you can filter metrics by flow name at the top of the dashboard. It's important to note that the AI Overview dashboard is a summary of all flow versions that have reached the Optimizing phase. If you do not see any results in this dashboard, your AI Infinity Test has not reached the Optimizing phase yet.
