Use Klaviyo Lists to Segment Subscribers

Postscript integrates with Klaviyo, allowing you to share information between the two solutions. With the Postscript and Klaviyo integration, you can use Klaviyo forms and popups to collect SMS subscribers you can then message via Postscript.

Once you've set up your Klaviyo integration, you can use Klaviyo lists as segments in campaigns and automations.

Sync Klaviyo Lists


  1. Select Apps in the side menu of your Postscript dashboard, then select List Growth.
  2. Locate and select your Klaviyo integration.
  3. Scroll to the Klaviyo Lists section at the bottom of the page to view all active lists from your Klaviyo account.
  4. For the lists you wish to make available for segments, campaigns, and automations, enable the Make available in filters toggle.

Depending on the size of the list, Postscript may take some time to sync those subscribers. Once this process completes, you can continue with creating segments, campaigns, and automations. Postscript regularly updates our segments to reflect new subscribers that are added to your brand's Klaviyo lists and segments. 

How Email Double Opt-In Affects List Syncing


Klaviyo defaults their lists to double opt-in. This means that email subscribers will receive a confirmation opt-in email. Email double opt in can affect list syncing when collecting email subscribers with a Postscript popup, then forwarding those email addresses to Klaviyo.

If your brand has double opt-in enabled, Postscript will only forward an email subscriber to Klaviyo once the email subscriber has confirmed their opt in.

If you'd like to set your list to single opt-in to immediately forward email subscribers collected with Postscript popups to Klaviyo lists, you can do so by clicking into a specific list. From that list view, navigate to the Settings tab, then select Consent on the left-hand side. Under Opt-in process, you can select the Single opt-in radio button. Then select Save.

Create Segments with Lists


  1. Select Messaging in the side menu of your Postscript dashboard, then select Segments.
  2. Select Create Segment in the top-right corner of the page.
  3. Name your new segment. Choose a name that will make it easy to identify in campaigns.
  4. In the Segment Criteria drop-down, select Subscriber Klaviyo List Membership.
  5. Choose your desired list from the drop-down that appears.
  6. Select Save Segment.

Use a Klaviyo List in a Campaign


  1. Select Messaging in the side menu of your Postscript dashboard, then select Campaigns.
  2. Select Create Campaign in the top-right corner of the page.
  3. Name your new campaign.
  4. From the Segment drop-down, select a segment that contains your desired Klaviyo list membership.
  5. Proceed with creating your campaign message.

Use a Klaviyo List in an Automation


  1. Select Messaging in the side menu of your Postscript dashboard, then select Automations.
  2. Select Create Automation in the top-right corner of the page.
  3. Choose Custom Animation from the template gallery.
  4. Name your new automation. Consider including mention of the Klaviyo list.
  5. Select Yes from the User Filter drop-down.
  6. For your filter, select Subscriber Klaviyo List Membership.
  7. Choose your desired list from the drop-down that appears.
  8. Proceed with creating your automation.
