In this article, we'll walk through how brands installing Postscript embed the PostScript SDK Theme App Extension. We'll also take a look at how brands that install Postscript before 01/01/2024 can update their stores, and include key information about embedding our SDK via Shopify Theme App Extensions.
Throughout this article, we'll refer to brands that install Postscript on or after 01/01/2026 as New Customers and brands that installed Postscript previously as Existing Customers.
Onboarding Flow for New Customers
After installing Postscript, Shopify will direct you to your Postscript dashboard, where your Postscript onboarding wizard will launch.
On the seventh step (Install Postscript App embed on Shopify) select the this direct link link. This link is unique to your store and will launch your Shopify theme editor.
In Shopify, under App embeds there will be a Javascript embed for PostScript already toggled on.
At this point in the process, Postscript's SDK has been added to your Shopify theme. To save, select the Save button in the upper-right corner.
After saving, navigate back to your Postscript onboarding tab. If the app embed was installed successfully, you will see a green banner confirming.
Select the Continue button in the onboarding wizard to continue setting up your Postscript account.
Existing Customer Flow: Install App Embed
Existing customers may see a notification on their dashboard requiring an action. Select the Notifications box in the lower left of the Postscript dashboard.
In the list of Notifications in the upper left, locate the Action Required notification and select the Turn on App Embed button.
In Shopify, under App embeds there will be a Javascript embed for PostScript already toggled on.
At this point in the process, Postscript's SDK has been added to your Shopify theme. To save, select the Save button in the upper-right corner.
Returned to the PostScript dashboard, a green success message will appear at the bottom of the screen and the notification will be removed from the list on the right.
