Campaigns allow you to schedule and send messages to a specific customer segment or your entire customer base. Campaigns differ from automations in that they contain one message and you control when they send.
Why You Should Send Campaigns
- Use campaigns to tell customers about new products, special offers, or exciting news.
- You can send campaigns right away or schedule them to send at a later date and time.
- Reach specific parts of your customer base using customer segments.
- Create campaigns that match your brand and voice using emojis, images, and/or GIFs.
Create a Campaign
- Select Campaigns in the side menu of your Postscript dashboard.
- Select Create Campaign on the top-right corner of the page.
Enter Campaign Details
On the campaign details page, you can customize your campaign message and specify which customers Postscript should message.
- Name your campaign. Choose a name that will allow you to identify and track the campaign in the future.
- Select a segment. Tell Postscript which customers to include in this campaign by selecting a customer segment from the drop-down list. Postscript displays the number of customers in the segment. (Note: You need to create a segment before you can assign it in a campaign.)
- Enable Safe Send (optional). Safe Send prevents the campaign message from sending to any customers who received any text message from your store in the last 16 hours (e.g., welcome series messages, abandoned cart messages, etc.).
- Include an image or GIF (optional). Including an image or GIF can increase click-through rates and engagement. It's also great when you've created a campaign to promote a specific product. (Note: Adding an image or GIF makes the message an MMS message.)
- Customize your message. Create a message that reflects your brand and audience. You can insert tags such as {first_name} or {shop_link}), link a specific product, or throw in a discount using options from the More drop-down list.
- Save. Select Save & Continue to Preview in the bottom-right corner of the page.
Previewing a campaign before you send it out allows you to confirm important details, see how the campaign looks, and schedule when the campaign sends (if applicable).
There are a few things we want to draw attention to on the preview screen:
-
Message Count. See how many messages Postscript will send to each customer included in your campaign.
- A single SMS message can contain up to 160 plain text characters. If your campaign message contains over 160 characters, it is considered a multi-part message and has a limit of 153 plain text characters. (Note: Including emojis in your message reduces the number of available characters - 160 reduces down to 70 and 153 reduces down to 67 characters.)
- A single MMS message contains up to 1600 characters.
- Credits. View how many credits the campaign will use. Learn more about SMS and MMS credits here.
- Send Me A Test. See how the message looks on your phone and test linked products or pages.
- Schedule Campaign. You can schedule a campaign to go out at a later date and time. Select Schedule Campaign, enter the date and time in the popup, then select Save Schedule.
If you're ready to send the campaign right away, select Send Campaign Now in the lower-right corner of the page.
Schedule a Campaign
Postscript makes it easy to create campaigns and schedule them to send at a later date and time. At the bottom of your campaign preview screen, select Schedule Campaign.
A popup appears and lets you define a future date and time. Note that time you select is in EDT or EST. Once you define a time, select Save Schedule.
Scheduled campaigns appear under the Open Campaigns listing on your Campaigns page. Once a campaign sends, it will move to the Sent Campaigns listing.
