Who gets this? Brands approved for RCS will see this feature in their Postscript account. Questions about eligibility? Reach out to your CSM!
RCS (Rich Communication Services) is the next generation of business messaging — enabling brands to send rich, branded messages with logos, hero images, and interactive elements directly through a subscriber's native messaging app. Applying for RCS through Postscript is the first step toward upgrading your SMS program to a fully branded messaging experience.
In this article, you'll learn how to navigate Postscript's step-by-step wizard to register your brand for RCS, test interactive messages on real devices, and successfully submit your launch application for carrier review.
TIP! Have the following ready before starting your application:
Your brand's legal company name
Your customer-facing display name, short description, and link color (hex code — must meet WCAG AA contrast standards)
Logo: PNG or JPEG, exactly 224×224px, no transparency, under 50KB
Banner: PNG or JPEG, exactly 1440×448px, under 200KB
Your website URL, terms of service URL, and privacy policy URL
Your primary phone number and email address
Your EIN (Employer Identification Number)
Your proof of opt-in, proof of opt-out, and a signup form video for the launch application
A US-based phone number and an RCS-capable device for test messaging
How to register your brand as a verified RCS agent
Postscript's Get Started with RCS wizard guides you through everything needed to register your brand as a verified RCS agent — all without leaving the platform. The wizard is organized into four stages:
Build Your Profile
Create Your Sender
Send a Test Message
Submit Launch Request
Once your profile is complete and your sender is created, your agent is available in the test environment immediately so you can send test messages and validate your setup before submitting your launch request into carrier review.
Stage 1: Build Your Profile
Your RCS profile includes your brand details, logo, and contact information to set up your RCS sender profile — it's what subscribers see when they receive a message from you. This stage walks you through three steps to build that profile.
Step 1: Logo and Banner Images
From your Postscript Dashboard, navigate to the Launchpad, located in the bottom left-hand corner of the app. Select Get Started with RCS, then select Begin to start creating your RCS profile.
Under Logo Image, select Drag or browse to upload your logo.
Your logo must be exactly 224x224px with no transparency.
If your image does not meet requirements, an inline error will appear. Resolve the error and re-upload before continuing.
Under Banner Image, select Drag or browse to upload your hero banner.
Your banner must be exactly 1440x448px.
If your image does not meet requirements, an inline error will appear. Resolve the error and re-upload before continuing.
You cannot advance until both assets pass validation.
Select Continue to proceed, or Save for Later to return to this step another time.
TIP! Check the inline validation feedback carefully — it will tell you exactly what needs to be corrected for each asset!
Step 2: Brand Details
Enter your Legal Company Name — the official registered name of your business.
Enter your Customer-Facing Display Name — this is the name subscribers will see when they receive messages from your RCS agent.
Enter a Description — a short summary of the types of messages you send to your customers (e.g., order details, promotions, abandoned cart notifications).
Select your Link Color using a hex code. Postscript validates this color in real time against WCAG AA contrast standards (a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 is required). You will not be able to proceed if your color is too light to read on a white background.
A live preview of your agent renders in the panel to the right. Toggle on Dark Mode to see how your agent will appear across different device settings.
Select Continue to proceed, or Back to return to the previous step.
Step 3: Contact Information
Enter your Phone Number
Enter your Website URL.
Enter your Email Address.
Enter your Terms of Service URL (We recommend using your Postscript Dynamic Terms of Service Link).
Enter your Privacy Policy URL (We recommend using your Postscript Dynamic Privacy Policy Link).
Review the contact fields carefully — these represent your company in your RCS profile and will be visible to subscribers.
Select Complete to finish building your profile, Back to return to the previous step, or Save for Later to return another time.
IMPORTANT! Your RCS profile cannot be edited once you submit your launch application. Double-check all details — especially your display name, contact fields, and legal company name — before completing this stage.
Stage 2: Create Your Sender
Once your profile is complete, Postscript creates your RCS sender in the test environment.
Review the profile summary presented on screen.
Confirm your details are accurate.
Select Create Your Sender to complete this stage.
Your RCS sender is created immediately. From this point, you can add test devices and send test messages before submitting your launch application.
Stage 3: Send a Test Message
Before submitting your launch request, use this stage to confirm your agent renders correctly on a real device. You'll need a US-based phone number and a device capable of receiving RCS messages.
Adding Test Devices
From the RCS Test Devices panel, select Add RCS Test Device.
Enter the Phone Number of the device you want to register.
Select Add. The device will appear in your test device list with a status of Pending, Ready, or Error.
The registered device will receive an RCS message from RBM Tester Management that reads: "You've been invited to become a tester of the RBM agent: [Your Brand Name]."
On the device, select Make me a tester to accept the invitation.
Once accepted, the device status will update from Pending to Ready. Devices in a Ready status can receive test messages.
NOTE: The person whose device you're registering must select Make me a tester on their device before you can send them a test message.
If they don't recognize the invitation or don't act on it, the device will remain in Pending status and test messages cannot be delivered.
Let them know to expect the message before you add their number.
You can also select Send Instructions to send setup instructions to a registered device if it needs additional configuration to receive RCS.
Sending a Test Message
On your list of RCS Test Devices, choose Select to begin on the number you’d like to send an RCS message to.
From the Send Test RCS panel, choose a message type:
Text RCS — simple text message with suggested actions
RCS Card — interactive message card with buttons and actions
RCS Card Carousel — swipeable cards for campaigns and offers
Select Send Test RCS.
A confirmation banner will appear: Test message sent.
If the send fails, an error state will appear. Select Send Test again to retry.
TIP! Use test messages to confirm that your logo, banner, display name, link color, and contact details all render as expected before submitting your launch application.
When you're ready to move on, select Done Testing to proceed directly to Stage 4.
Stage 4: Submit Launch Request
Once you've built your profile and tested your agent, you're ready to submit your launch request to kick off carrier review.
This stage collects the compliance, business, and traffic information required to move your agent from the test environment into production. The launch application contains five steps.
IMPORTANT: Your RCS profile cannot be edited once your application is submitted. If any changes are made to your logo, banner, or agent configuration after submission, your agent will require a full relaunch — causing severe delays. Double-check everything before proceeding.
From the RCS section in the side menu, select Submit Launch Request.
Review the confirmation screen. Select View RCS Profile to do a final check of your profile details before continuing.
Select Begin Launch Application. You will be routed to a form to complete your submission.
Complete the Launch Application Form
Fill out all required fields in the form. Have the following information ready:
Field | Description |
The email address of the person submitting the form | |
RCS Sender Name to Launch | The RCS agent name exactly as configured in Postscript |
Company Information
Field | Description |
Legal Company Name | Your brand's official registered business name |
Brand Website URL | Your public-facing website |
Address (Line 1), (Line 2), City, State, ZIP Code | Your full business mailing address |
Business EIN | Your Employer Identification Number |
Point of Contact First and Last Name | The person who will manage carrier communications |
Point of Contact Job Title | Their role at your company |
Point of Contact Email Address | A monitored email address that matches your business URL where possible — carriers will use this to reach you with questions |
Point of Contact Phone Number | Direct phone number for the point of contact |
Before you select Submit, confirm both acknowledgments:
I confirm that our RCS agent has been thoroughly tested and is ready for launch, and that any post-submission changes will require a full relaunch.
I agree to act as the primary contact and will promptly respond to Aegis vetting and Google brand approval requests over the next 4–6 weeks.
4. Select Submit to send your application.
NOTE: After submitting, you'll receive instructions via email. Plan for 10–12 weeks from submission to launch — this timeline is driven by third-party vetting and carrier review processes outside of Postscript's control. The point of contact listed on this form must actively monitor their inbox and respond promptly to Aegis vetting and Google brand approval requests. Delays in responding will delay your launch.
What to Expect After Submission
RCS activation is a multi-step process involving third-party business verification and carrier review. Plan for 10–12 weeks from the date of your launch request submission to go live — though the actual timeline depends largely on how quickly you complete the Aegis vetting process. Carrier review does not begin until Aegis vetting is finished, so completing that step promptly is the best way to keep things moving. Here's what happens at each stage.
Stage 1: Aegis Vetting
After your launch application is submitted, you'll receive an email directly from Aegis, a third-party service that verifies business legitimacy as part of the RCS registration process.
Follow the instructions in the Aegis email to complete verification — this typically involves selecting a link or entering a PIN.
This step is handled entirely by Aegis. Postscript does not have visibility into the verification process or confirmation timing.
Once vetting is complete, the Postscript Compliance team prepares your submission package — including your agent video — and submits everything to our carrier partners.
TIP! Keep an eye on your inbox for the Aegis verification email — it may arrive in your spam or promotions folder. Delays in completing Aegis vetting will delay your overall timeline, as carrier submission cannot begin until verification is confirmed.
Stage 2: Carrier Review & Activation
Once your submission package is delivered to carriers, each carrier independently reviews your application and provisions your RCS agent.
Carrier review and provisioning typically takes 10–12 weeks from the date of your original application submission.
Timeline varies by carrier and is outside of Postscript's control.
The Postscript Compliance team monitors status and posts updates throughout this process
During this phase, Google will reach out to your registered brand contact to request approval to launch your RCS agent and confirm the agent details. You must respond to this email to activate your agent on the carriers that are managed directly by Google.
Stage 3: Launch & In-App Activation
When carrier activation is complete and aligned with product readiness, Postscript will notify you that your RCS agent is live.
Postscript enables RCS in your account and coordinates activation with you directly.
Once active, you can begin sending RCS messages with SMS/MMS fallback as needed for subscribers on devices or carriers that do not yet support RCS.
Your Postscript team will support you with guidance on flows, fallback configuration, and setting expectations for your program.
Editing Your RCS Profile
Your RCS profile can be edited at any time before you submit your launch application. Once the application is submitted, your profile is locked and cannot be changed.
To make edits before submitting:
Navigate to the RCS section in the side menu.
Select Edit RCS Profile.
Update your logo, banner, brand details, or contact information as needed. Postscript will re-validate any updated assets and refresh the live preview automatically.
Save your changes before returning to the launch application.
