Confirmed opt-in (also known as double opt-in) allows brands to validate phone numbers entered at checkout, in popups, or via forms. This prevents someone from falsely opting in a different phone number or entering a number that can't receive SMS messages (i.e., a landline), and it keeps your subscriber list clean.
While you have the option to not enable confirmed opt-in for Postscript sources such as popups, keywords, or opt-in links, it is required and enforced by Shopify in their checkout collection process.
