Set Up Your Social Snowball Integration

Postscript integrates with Social Snowball, allowing you to share information between the two solutions. 

About Social Snowball

Social Snowball makes it easy for ecommerce brands to convert customers into affiliates. With Social Snowball, each customer is given an affiliate code and account, making word-of-mouth promotion effortless on their part.

Why You Should Set Up Social Snowball

  • Create and send Postscript automations triggered by a Social Snowball event that contain Social Snowball-specific tags like a customer's affiliate code or link.
  • Send out campaigns to your affiliates based on the keyword you assign in your integration setup. You can let them know about a promotion they can help promote or remind them to check out their referral balance on their dashboard.

Create a Postscript API Key

  1. Select your Shop Name in the side menu of your Postscript dashboard, then select API.
  2. Select Create Security Key Pair on the right side of the page, then confirm your action by selecting Yes.
  3. Select Show in the Private Key column to reveal your API key. Copy this key or write it down—you'll need to enter it in Social Snowball later.

Connect Social Snowball and Postscript

  1. Select Customize in the side menu of your Social Snowball dashboard, then select Integrations.
  2. Enter or paste your Postscript Public API Key and Private API Key in the spaces provided.
  3. Enable the Activate Integration toggle.
  4. Save your changes.
  5. Once you save, a Selected Keyword drop-down appears. Choose a keyword to assign to subscribers who opt-in via Social Snowball.
    • You can choose an existing keyword or create a new one. You'll need to create the keyword before it can appear in the drop-down.
  6. Save your changes.

Create a Social Snowball Automation

Once you connect Postscript and Social Snowball, you can create Postscript automations using the Social Snowball triggers.

  1. Select Messaging in the side menu of your Postscript dashboard, then select Automations.
  2. Select Create Automations in the top-right corner of the page.
  3. Choose Custom Automation.
  4. Give your automation a name. We recommend you give it a name that indicates its purpose (i.e. Social Snowball - New Affiliate Signup Form, Social Snowball - Payout Sent, etc.)
  5. Select your Social Snowball-related trigger from the Automation Trigger drop-down.
    • Signed up as an affiliate via sign up form: A new affiliate joins your program by submitting a sign-up form.
    • Signed up as an affiliate via purchase: A new affiliate joins your program by making a purchase.
    • New referral sale: A new affiliate order is placed.
    • Payout sent: A commission payout is sent to an affiliate.
  6. Select Save & Continue to Messages in the bottom-right corner of the page.

On the message detail page, you can insert specific Social Snowball message tags in your message. Tags appear as a placeholder in the message field but will populate with information specific to the recipient once sent.

  1. Select the blue More button above the message field.
  2. Select Add Tag.
  3. Choose your desired tag from the Tag drop-down, then select Insert Tag. Which tags appear will depend on the Social Snowball-related trigger you selected on the previous screen.
    • Affiliate code: The discount code generated for an affiliate to share.
    • Affiliate link: The tracking link generated for an affiliate to share.
    • Affiliate order value: The total value of a referred order.
    • Affiliate discount value: The value of the discount code/link shared by an affiliate.
    • Affiliate commission: The commission reward value paid to an affiliate.
  4. Customize your message, if desired.
  5. Select Save in the bottom-right corner of the page.
  6. Last, make sure to toggle the Enabled button to ensure your automation is live.

Compliance Language Requirements

When collecting subscribers, the TCPA requires you to include necessary compliance language that informs visitors that they are opting into SMS messaging from your store. This wording should be present where you include a phone input field or request a phone number.

Here's an example of TCPA-compliant language:

Note: In order to collect subscribers compliantly, your shop's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy need to be hyperlinked in the language shown above. If they cannot be hyperlinked, the full URLs of each need to be included so a viewer may search your terms or privacy policy if needed.
