Campaigns let you send a single message to your entire subscriber base or a specific customer segment. Because campaigns contain a single message and can be scheduled, they're the perfect way to communicate upcoming product drops, promotions, and giveaways.

We've identified five core campaigns that can jumpstart your SMS strategy. We strongly recommend that you work these campaigns into your weekly or monthly cadence.

Why You Want to Send These Campaigns

  • These campaigns make up core messages most subscribers would expect to see from a brand.
  • Sending a variety of campaign types allows you to assess the interests of your subscriber base and learn which types of messages have higher engagement and conversion.
  • Campaigns are a great way to show off the personality, voice, and creativity of your brand.

1. Weekly Promotion or Flash Sale

Weekly promotions, flash sales, and daily deals are popular campaigns to send. It's a great chance for brands to offer a discount site-wide or feature a specific item or collection.

With these campaigns, you can also target specific customer segments. For example, clone a campaign and change the discount you offer. You can send a lower discount to engaged customers who purchase or click links more frequently and then offer a larger discount to non-engaged customers who either never click a link or click without purchasing.

  1. Select Messaging in the side menu of your Postscript dashboard, then select Campaigns.
  2. Select Create Campaign in the top-right corner of your page.
  3. On the campaign details page, you can customize your message:
    • Choose a specific customer segment to receive the campaign. We chose to send ours to engaged subscribers.
    • Write engaging copy that reflects your brand's voice and personality.
    • Add an image or GIF.
    • Add emojis, message tags, and links.
  4. Select Save & Continue to Preview in the bottom-right corner of the page.
  5. Review your campaign details and send a Test Message to yourself, if desired.
  6. Finally, choose to either Schedule Campaign or Send Campaign Now

2. New Product Launch

Product launch campaigns are the perfect way to generate hype for a release. You don't have to offer a discount here; instead, use your copy to build excitement and a sense of urgency and FOMO around the release.

You can even send multiple campaigns leading up to the release. For example, send a mystery teaser (i.e., Something exciting is coming your way!), a date drop (i.e., Mark your calendars!), and then the product release announcement.

  1. Select Messaging in the side menu of your Postscript dashboard, then select Campaigns.
  2. Select Create Campaign in the top-right corner of your page.
  3. On the campaign details page, you can customize your message:
    • Choose a specific customer segment to receive the campaign.
    • Write engaging copy that reflects your brand's voice and personality and creates excitement around the product
    • Add an image or GIF. You can have fun with pre-release images by revealing bits at a time or blurring out the product.

3. Holiday Promotion

We're conditioned as consumers to associate holidays with special promotions or sales. With a holiday promotion campaign, you can let your subscribers know about what deals you're offering, whether it's a discount, BOGO offer, or free shipping.

Don't forget the smaller, lesser-known, or unofficial holidays. These can be great campaign opportunities, especially if they align with your brand's interests (e.g., National Park Week), products (e.g., National Pet Day), and mission (e.g., World Mental Health Day).

  1. Select Messaging in the side menu of your Postscript dashboard, then select Campaigns.
  2. Select Create Campaign in the top-right corner of your page.
  3. On the campaign details page, you can customize your message:
    • Choose a specific customer segment to receive the campaign.

4. Back in Stock

When a fan-favorite item is back in stock, it's time to shout it from the rooftops. You can use campaigns to let your entire subscriber base know the item is back in stock, or target specific subscribers based on past purchase behavior.

Pro Tip: Swap out discounts for a sense of urgency. Let customers know how quickly the item will sell out (i.e., These earrings sold out in 24 hours last time!) or if you have a limited inventory. This will encourage customers to make that purchase and fast.

  1. Select Messaging in the side menu of your Postscript dashboard, then select Campaigns.
  2. Select Create Campaign in the top-right corner of your page.
  3. On the campaign details page, you can customize your message:
    • Choose a specific customer segment to receive the campaign. We chose to send ours to customers who have purchased similar accessory items in the past as they're likely to be the most interested in this product.

5. Conversational or Non-Transactional Campaigns

Here's where things can get really fun. Conversational or non-transactional campaigns give you the opportunity to connect and interact with your subscribers. From a quick hello, a shared blog post, or an interactive experience, the possibilities are endless.

  • Create interactive experiences with a few Reply with KEYWORD options that trigger different responses.
  • Share a blog post, product review, or fun promotion video.
  • Reach out to customers for user-generated content.
  • Connect with customers about a recent event (i.e., Yes, Facebook and Instagram are still down. But while you're here...)

  1. Select Messaging in the side menu of your Postscript dashboard, then select Campaigns.
  2. Select Create Campaign in the top-right corner of your page.
  3. On the campaign details page, you can customize your message:
    • Choose a specific customer segment to receive the campaign. We choose to send this to our most engaged subscribers because they're more likely to interact with the campaign we created.
    • Write engaging copy that reflects your brand's voice and personality. Have fun with this.
