Text messaging is an extremely valuable marketing channel that is just beginning to enter the mainstream. Something that sets text messaging apart from other marketing channels is how visible it is; people will actually read the messages you send them!
This visibility also means that you need to treat your text message subscribers with the utmost care. All of the subscriber acquisition tools in the Postscript platform have been designed with compliance and consumer experience in mind. However, there are some features and integrations that may rely on your setup and configuration.
While using Postscript, it is crucial that you adhere to our anti-spam policy, as well as all relevant laws and regulations where you operate (such as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”)). Violations of the TCPA can lead to damages of $500-$1,500 per message, while violations of CTIA guidelines can lead to being prevented from using the wireless carrier networks.
While not a comprehensive list, here are two critical guidelines to always follow when adding subscribers to your text message marketing program:
Clearly display TCPA & CTIA-compliant opt-in language - Clearly and conspicuously display language that states what the subscriber is signing up for at all points during the opt-in process and ensure that the language is compliant with all relevant laws and regulations, such as the TCPA and CTIA. Uncheck boxes on opt-in forms - Use unchecked boxes on any subscriber opt-in forms, such as your checkout page. This helps to ensure that the consumer wants to receive your messages and is not inadvertently subscribed.
