Create Text-to-Buy Segments

Text-to-buy enables subscribers to purchase directly through the text thread of a promotional SMS message using a Shop Pay account. If you have not set up Text-to-Buy functionality for your account, start here.

Segmentation is a crucial part of any messaging strategy. When introducing a brand new sales channel to your audience - like Text-to-Buy, you'll want to be sure to target the right pockets of your subscriber base. In this article, we discuss the recommended segments for targeting Text-to-Buy campaigns as well as describe some Text-to-Buy segment criteria.

How Text-to-Buy Benefits You

Subscriber Created Before Last 30 Days

Text-to-Buy campaigns are the most successful when sent to subscribers who have already been signed up for your SMS program for over 30 days. Use the parameters shown below to capture subscribers who have been subscribed to your list for over 30 days.

VIP Subscribers

When sending a Text-to-Buy campaign, consider targeting your VIP segment. VIP subscribers include subscribers with recent purchase histories (1) and who have engaged with your brand over the channel. That could look like a healthy click history (2) or response history (3). Below, we show a few parameters you may consider using when building a VIP segment for your next Text-to-Buy campaign.

Understanding Text-to-Buy Segment Criteria

Using segment criteria such as Total Text-to-Buy Orders, as shown below, will include any subscribers that have placed a Text-to-Buy order with Postscript regardless of whether that subscriber has placed a Text-to-Buy order with your shop specifically.

Similarly, using the criterion Shop Pay Authorized, also shown below, will include any individuals subscribed to your brand's SMS program who have authorized Shop Pay to their wallet with Postscript - regardless of if they authorized Shop Pay to purchase from your brand specifically.
