Create a Text-to-Buy Campaign Flow

Text-to-buy enables subscribers to purchase directly through the text thread of a promotional SMS message using a Shop Pay account. If you have not set up Text-to-Buy functionality for your account, start here.

How Text-to-Buy Campaign Flows Benefits You

  • Increase sales by empowering your customers to purchase through shoppable text messages.
  • Fast-track the most important step in the customer journey: the purchase.
  • Centralize how customers interact with your brand by allowing customers to purchase, receive shipping notifications, and contact customer support within a single text thread.
  • With Flow Builder, you can easily visualize and build your flow, add delays between messages, and schedule a start date for sending. 
  • Campaign flows are the perfect way to send single-message or multi-message campaigns to a specific customer segment or your entire subscriber base. 

Create a Text-to-Buy Campaign Flow


  1. From your Postscript Dashboardselect Messaging, then select Campaigns.
  2. Select Create Campaign in the top-right corner of the page, then choose Create Campaign Flow.
  3. Choose either Create a new campaign.
  4. Select the customer segments you wish to Include and Exclude (optional) as well as your Cancellation Trigger (optional). Then select Save.
  5. Under your segment card, drag and drop the Text-to-Buy action.
  6. Craft your message and create a cart by adding products under the Add Product(s) section. Be Sure to add your product(s), variant(s), and quantity.
  7. Optional: Offer a discount to this campaign by adding the code in the Discount Code field.
  8. Select Save.
  9. Flow Builder, by default, allows you to add optional follow-up messages after your subscribers take (or don't take) certain actions. Below we look at each action:
    • Purchased: This is triggered when a subscriber completes a Text-to-Buy purchase by replying “1” to the order confirmation text. Subscribers will still receive an order confirmation message. 
    • Canceled: This is triggered when a subscriber completes a Text-to-Buy purchase by replying “2” to the order confirmation text. The subscriber will still receive an order cancellation message.
    • Didn't Purchase: This is triggered when a subscriber receives the order confirmation text, but takes no further action.  In this scenario, Text-to-Buy will cancel the pending order 24 hours after sending the order confirmation message and the subscriber will receive an order cancellation message.
    • Timed Out: This is triggered if a subscriber takes no action to engage in the Text-to-Buy flow 48 hours after receiving a Text-to-Buy message.  I.e. the subscriber did not reply “buy”. 
  10. Once your campaign flow is crafted, select Schedule or Launch in the top-right corner of the page. You have two options when sending a flow:
    • Activate immediately: This option will immediately begin the one-time flow.
    • Activate at a scheduled time and date: Choose when you'd like the flow to begin.
