This article will walk through a basic popup in Privy that can pass a phone number into your Postscript account as a subscriber.

Creating your Keyword in Postscript

The first thing we need to do in Postscript is create a keyword and keyword reply so that you have a way for your Privy popup users to opt into your subscriber list. When you installed Postscript, you were given two default keywords that you can use if you want, or instructions here will show you how to create a custom keyword. Remember, custom keywords are not available on the free tier.

  1. First, click "Keywords" on the left
  2. Next, click "Create Keyword", found at the top right of the screen
  3. Name your keyword, decide if you will include a coupon in the reply, and save
  4. If you want to edit the reply, click the purple "Reply" box or to create an automatic reply to this keyword, click "Add Action" and then create your reply.
  5. Follow the instructions below to include this keyword later for new subscribers to trigger

Editing Your Privy Form to Collect Phone Subscribers

Next, you're going to do is setup your campaign in Privy. Be sure to select a Campaign Style that has space for multiple form fields. After selecting "+ New Campaign", you'll be able to add a phone field to that form.

You'll want to keep the Email field, but add a "Phone Field"

*Be sure that the Required? checkbox is checked to require a phone number entry to submit the form. If you are collecting outside of the US, country codes are required with the phone number.

You can also change the order of your form fields by dragging & dropping them. You can place the phone field before or after the email field. 

SMS Terms of Service 

It is very important to add the Terms of Service and consent language to your form to stay within TCPA compliance regulations. 

Replace the default consenting language provided in Privy Campaign Designer with the following language.

"*I agree to receive recurring automated text messages at the phone number provided. Consent is not a condition to purchase. Msg & data rates may apply. Click to view our Terms of Service."

Linking Postscript to Privy

Not only will you need to integrate Privy into Postscript (in the integrations tab on your Dashboard!), but you'll also need to integrate Postscript into Privy!

Navigate to your Business Settings & then go to your Linked Accounts section.
Click Postscript.

Enter the email address associated with your Postscript account & your API Key. (You can find your API key on your account page here: https://app.postscript.io/account

Creating a Privy Automation Rule

For the campaign that you are collecting phone numbers for, you'll want to add an Automation Rule. This lets Privy know to pass the phone data back to Postscript.

You'll also want to select which keyword flow you want these signups to be entered into.

Now you can begin collecting subscribers via your Privy form! When someone enters their phone number, they will begin receiving the replies associated with that keyword you chose. 

You can test this by submitting the Privy form on your website and filling out the information. At this point, you'll receive SMS confirmation on your phone!
