Fondue KYB Verification

A complete guide to completing the mandatory KYB (Know Your Business) verification step to unlock Postscript's Fondue CashBack features, including required information and key roles.

KYB (Know Your Business) is a one-time compliance step required to unlock Postscript's Fondue CashBack features. Use this guide to collect everything you need before you begin the business verification and associated persons steps.

To begin, select Start Verification next to Business Verification and Associated Persons in your Fondue app dashboard.

Who needs to be involved

KYB verifies both your business and the real people behind it. Before you start, loop in the following people:

  • Finance Team / Accountant – for EIN, legal docs, and ownership records

  • Control Person – usually the CEO, president, or founder

  • Each Ultimate Beneficial Owner (UBO) – anyone who owns 25%+ of the business

Give each person a heads-up before you start — they'll each get a secure email link to complete their own identity check.

What information to gather

Business information:

  • Business legal name

  • Employer Identification Number (EIN)

  • Registered business address

  • Business type (LLC, S-Corp, sole prop, etc.)

  • Ownership docs — Operating Agreement, shareholder register, etc.

For each Control Person and UBO:

  • Full name and email address

  • Social Security Number (U.S.) or government-issued ID (non-U.S.)

Postscript never sees or stores SSNs. Each person submits their own info directly through Persona, our trusted identity verification partner.

Control Person vs. UBO — what's the difference?

Role

Definition

Control Person

The individual with significant operational control. Usually the CEO, president, or founder.

UBO (Ultimate Beneficial Owner)

Anyone who owns 25%+ of the company (equity or voting rights). You may have multiple, one, or none.

The same person can be both. A founder-CEO who owns 40% counts as both — list them once as a Control Person and check "This individual is also an owner."

Where to find UBO info (by business type)

Business Type

Where to Look

Sole Prop / Single-Member LLC

You are the UBO.

Partnership / Multi-Member LLC / Family-Owned

Operating or Partnership Agreement; your accountant can confirm.

Corporation (C-Corp / S-Corp)

Shareholder register, or ask your accountant.

How the process works (3 steps)

  1. Set up your payment method — Add a bank account or card to process CashBack payments.

  2. Complete business verification — Enter your business name, EIN, address, and type, matching your IRS or state filing.

  3. Verify associated persons — Enter names and emails for your Control Person and UBOs. Each person gets a secure email link to complete their own identity check in under 5 minutes.

NOTE: Verification emails come from [email protected]. Ask recipients to check spam if they don't see it. Approval typically returns near-instantly once all submissions are complete.
